Biography:  Xindong Wu is a Professor of Computer Science at the University of Vermont (USA), a Yangtze River Scholar in the School of Computer Science and Information Engineering at the Hefei University of Technology (China), and a Fellow of the IEEE and the AAAS. He is the Thousand Talents Plan Scholar in China. He is Steering Committee Chair of the IEEE International Conference on Data Mining (ICDM), Editor-in-Chief of Knowledge and Information Systems (KAIS, by Springer), and Editor-in-Chief of the Springer Book Series on Advanced Information and Knowledge Processing (AI&KP). Professor Wu is the 2004 ACM SIGKDD Service Award winner and the 2006 IEEE ICDM Outstanding Service Award winner, and received the 2012 IEEE Computer Society Technical Achievement Award "for pioneering contributions to data mining and applications". He received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Computer Science from the Hefei University of Technology, China, and his Ph.D. degree in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Edinburgh, Britain. His research interests include data mining, knowledge-based systems, and Web information exploration, and he has published extensively in these areas in various journals and conferences, including IEEE TKDE, TPAMI, ACM TOIS, DMKD, KAIS, IJCAI, AAAI, ICML, KDD, ICDM, and WWW. His research has been supported by the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD), the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), and the Ministry of Science and Technology of China, as well as industrial companies including Microsoft Research and U.S. West Advanced Technologies.
