Spatio-temporal Data Fusion in the Big-Data Era

Abstract:  Present-day data are voluminous, arriving at a fast speed, highly dynamic and error prone. How to capitalize on such a rich source of data is of paramount concern in spatial analysis and planning. Due to their multi-source, multi-type and multi-scale nature in space and time, effective and efficient fusion of such data is of pertinent importance in the monitoring and analysis of spatial processes and the formulation of policy for their solutions. This talk will propose an approach to perform the fusion of spatio-temporal data in the big data era. It will place emphasis on the theoretical and conceptual development of the approach and the system implementation of the analysis framework. A real-life example in urban pollution monitoring and analysis will be employed to substantiate the theoretical arguments.
