News & Updates:

The local organizing committee for ICSDM 2015 welcomes your participation in the Second IEEE International Conference on Spatial Data Mining and Geographical Knowledge Services, which will be held on July 8-10 in Fuzhou, China. as the second season of these serial events. The 1st ICSDM held from June 29 to July 1 2011 in Fuzhou in conjunction with the 8th Beijing International Workshop on Geographical Information Science (BJ-IWGIS 2011) was a huge success. The event attracted more than 130 registered attendees from USA, Germany, France, Ireland, Italy, Austria, Japan, Switzerland, Belgium, Netherland, Hungary, Slovakia, Turkey, Thailand, Indonesia, Cameron, Algeria, and China, and 10 world-renowned scientists gave keynote speeches or invited talks. A new forum/platform for international academic exchanges had come into shape.

We are entering Big Data era. Massive, heterogeneous and unstructured data sets are quickly acquired from sensors on the Internet of Things, earth observation and navigation, location-based services, social networks and crowd sourcing. Traditional data processing and analysis methods that work well on single dataset become inefficient and insufficient in terms of throughput, processing speed and performance. Big data is huge volume, high velocity, high variety and low density of valuable information assets that require new forms of processing; otherwise the problem of "Explosive data but lack of knowledge" is only getting more prominent. Storage and transmission of Big Data also consume more energy. Big Data is bringing profound information revolution to how we live, work and think. Decision-making process is evolving from requirement-driven to data-driven. Significant change will also occur in how we conduct scientific research in earth sciences. The theme of ICSDM 2015 is "Meet The Challenge of Geographical Big Data". Its main goal is to make it an open forum or platform for researchers and practitioners to share their innovative ideas and achievements in the multi-faceted research of SDM/SKD, data analysis, geographical knowledge service and decision support in Big Data era.

Authors are invited to submit unpublished papers, which are not under review in any other conferences or journals at the time of submission, on the topics (but not limited to) described under the Theme & Scope section. Accepted manuscripts will be submitted to IEEE for further review two months before the conference. The final accepted papers will be presented at the conference and published in the EI-indexed eXplore. Selected papers will be published in special issues of SCI journals. For query, please contact us at ICSDM2015@fzu.edu.cn.
